Nigeria international, Femi Azeez, has described his transfer to Premier League side Brighton & Hove Albion as a “dream come true” after completing his move from Championship club Millwall.
The 25-year-old winger joined Brighton on a four-year contract following an impressive 2025/26 campaign with Millwall. The deal was completed after both clubs submitted the necessary paperwork before the transfer deadline was extended to allow the move to go through.
Azeez, who has now earned the opportunity to play in the Premier League, said reaching England’s top flight has been a lifelong ambition.
“It’s every young boy’s dream, isn’t it? Something I’ve been dreaming of for my whole life, and to be given this opportunity is like a dream come true really,” Azeez said in an interview with Brighton.
The Nigerian winger added that he intends to work hard and make the most of his opportunity at the Amex Stadium.
“I’m going to take this opportunity. I’m going to work hard. I want to be successful here, so I’m over the moon,” he added.
Azeez also revealed that a conversation with Brighton manager Fabian Hürzeler played an important role in convincing him to join the club.
According to the Nigerian, Hürzeler’s detailed explanation of Brighton’s plans immediately excited him about the possibility of moving to the Premier League.
He also praised Brighton’s reputation for developing players, saying the club’s ambition, culture and overall approach suited his personality and career ambitions.
The move represents another major step in Azeez’s remarkable rise through English football.
Azeez began his journey in the lower levels of English football before progressing through clubs including Reading and Millwall.
His performances for Millwall during the 2025/26 Championship campaign attracted significant attention. He scored 11 goals and provided eight assists in 35 Championship appearances, helping Millwall reach the playoffs.
His outstanding performances earned him places in both the PFA Championship Team of the Year and the EFL Championship Team of the Season.
Azeez joined Millwall from Reading in 2024 and made 77 appearances for the club, scoring 15 goals and providing 13 assists.
His transfer to Brighton is reportedly worth an initial £12.5 million, with performance-related add-ons potentially taking the overall package beyond £15 million.
Azeez’s move also marks an important moment in his international career. The winger made his senior Nigeria debut earlier in 2026 and made an immediate impact by scoring twice against Zimbabwe.
He will now look to establish himself in the Premier League and continue his development with Brighton.
