The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has appointed Alhaji Ibrahim Hussain Abdulkarim, popularly known as Mallam Ziter or Ziter001, as Director-General of the campaign for the Peter Obi–Rabiu Kwankwaso presidential ticket ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Abdulkarim’s appointment, announced as part of the party’s campaign arrangements released on Sunday, places him at the helm of efforts to coordinate the campaign and mobilise support for the presidential ticket.
The new campaign director-general is an ICT strategist, entrepreneur and political strategist whose professional experience spans technology, business development, public-sector administration and community engagement.
Born on October 14, 1976, in Sokoto State, Abdulkarim obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Geography from Bayero University, Kano. His academic background laid the foundation for his work in Geographic Information Systems (GIS), spatial data management and technology-driven development solutions.
He is the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of EasyGIS Nigeria Limited, a technology company that provides GIS, data management, information systems and business process improvement services.
Abdulkarim has also worked on technology projects across several sectors, including public administration, security, agriculture, land management, revenue generation and project monitoring.
One of his notable engagements was the AMDON System Integration Project, which reportedly mapped more than 1,500 dealerships and over 100,000 vehicles across 28 states.
His portfolio also includes the Katsina Motor Vehicle Administration Software, the Zamfara Online Scientific Fertiliser and Seeds Distribution System, and a crime reporting and monitoring system for the Nigerian Police.
Beyond his technology career, Abdulkarim has experience in public-sector administration and policy-related assignments.
Between 2019 and 2021, he served as chairman of the Advisory Committee on Efficient Land Administration, Urban Planning and Development, and Improving Revenue Generation and Collection in the Nasarawa State Ministry of Land and Urban Development.
He has also supported youth empowerment and community development initiatives focused on employment, entrepreneurship, skills acquisition and business support.
His appointment comes as political parties begin organising their structures and strategies ahead of the 2027 presidential election, with the NDC preparing to advance the Obi-Kwankwaso ticket across the country.
As campaign director-general, Abdulkarim will be expected to help coordinate campaign activities and draw on his experience in political strategy, technology and administration to support the party’s mobilisation efforts.
The party’s campaign arrangements were released on Sunday, although further details of Abdulkarim’s specific plans and priorities in the new role were not provided in the information announcing his appointment.
