The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Osun Sector Command, has moved to strengthen ties with traditional leaders in a targeted push to reduce road traffic accidents across the state.
Osun FRSC Sector Commander, Mr. Sunday Adebayo, made the outreach during an official visit to the palace of the Orangun of Ila, Oba Abdulwahab Oyedotun, on Thursday.
Addressing the monarch, Adebayo appealed to the traditional authority to use community meetings, cultural ceremonies, and local gatherings as platforms to educate residents on responsible driving and road safety practices. He emphasized that the influence of traditional institutions is critical to reinforcing the corps’ public awareness campaigns and curbing preventable highway crashes.
Adebayo reaffirmed the command’s commitment to collaborating closely with local leadership, particularly the Orangun of Ila, to ensure safer transit within the area.
In response, Oba Oyedotun commended the FRSC’s ongoing efforts to protect lives on Osun roads and assured the sector commander of the traditional council’s full backing in championing road safety initiatives throughout Ila and neighboring communities.
The palace visit was part of Sector Commander Adebayo’s broader operational tour, which also included an inspection of the FRSC Ila Unit Command.
