Real Madrid manager José Mourinho has praised Kylian Mbappé for his impressive performance in the club’s 4-1 victory over Sevilla, describing the encounter as a “beautiful victory” after his side delivered a dominant display at the Santiago Bernabéu.

Mbappé was among the standout performers, scoring twice and drawing attention with an audacious Panenka penalty early in the second half. The French forward won the spot-kick before calmly chipping the goalkeeper to extend Madrid’s advantage.

The 27-year-old had earlier found the net after connecting with a clever backheel pass from Jude Bellingham, underlining his attacking instincts and growing influence in the team.

Speaking after the match, Mourinho expressed satisfaction with his players’ individual performances and their ability to control the game from start to finish.

“It was a good game globally for Real Madrid with many players at a high individual level,” the Portuguese coach said.

“We controlled it from the first to the last minute and scored quality goals.”

Mourinho also defended his approach to squad rotation, stressing that competition for places remains open and that every player must be ready to contribute when called upon.

“Meritocracy is abstract because there’s no way to quantify which 11 players deserve it the most,” he said, adding that several players had earned the opportunity to feature.

The victory highlighted Madrid’s attacking quality, ball possession and ability to create chances against a competitive Sevilla side. Mbappé’s performance further reinforced his importance to the team as they pursue success in domestic and European competitions.

With the Sevilla encounter behind them, Mourinho’s attention has now shifted to Madrid’s next assignment against RB Leipzig in the UEFA Champions League, where the Spanish giants will look to maintain their momentum.
