Veteran Actor Peter Fatomilola recounts Mr Macaroni’s unexpected generosity
Veteran Nollywood actor Pa Peter Fatomilola has expressed gratitude to comedian and actor Debo Adedayo, popularly known as Mr Macaroni, for what he described as an unexpected act of kindness towards him and his family.
Fatomilola, while recounting his encounter with the actor, said he first met Mr Macaroni at a movie location in Oyo State.
According to him, after completing his role on the set and preparing to leave, Mr Macaroni approached him, escorted him to his car and insisted on giving him transport fare.
He said he was surprised when Mr Macaroni handed him N200,000 despite the fact that they had never met before.
“I haven’t recovered from what Mr Macaroni did to me. He escorted me to my car and insisted he was going to give me transport fare. I was shocked when Macaroni gave me N200,000,” Fatomilola said.
The veteran actor said the gesture surprised him even more because the person who had invited him to the movie location had given him N50,000 for his work that day.
He said the encounter left him deeply touched, particularly because he had not expected any financial assistance from Mr Macaroni.
Fatomilola said that about three months later, Mr Macaroni invited him to feature in another movie.
He explained that when he arrived at the location, he discovered that he had been invited for only one scene, which he acted alongside veteran actor Pete Edochie.
According to him, Mr Macaroni’s generosity did not end with him.
After the scene, he said, the actor gave N100,000 to his son and another N50,000 to his grandson.
“That was when I became suspicious of what was happening because I was surprised by his kind gesture towards my children,” he said.
Fatomilola said he was later called by Mr Macaroni, who handed him N1 million.
He said he initially questioned the reason for the money because he had only appeared in one scene.
“I said, ‘For what?’ Because it was just one scene I acted, and he told me, ‘Daddy, everything is for you,’” the veteran actor recounted.
Fatomilola said the gesture left him emotional and almost brought him to tears.
“I almost wept. I am so grateful for what Mr Macaroni did to me,” he said.
The veteran actor’s account has highlighted the impact of unexpected acts of kindness, particularly towards elderly and veteran members of the Nigerian entertainment industry.
