Woli Agba, Dele threaten legal action over allegations linking them to Toluwanisings’ death

Nigerian comedians Ayobami Ajewole, popularly known as Woli Agba, and Olamide Oladimeji, also known as Dele Omo Woli, have threatened legal action against individuals spreading allegations linking them to the death of gospel singer Olayemi Bayonile Bolaji, popularly known as Toluwanisings.

The entertainers issued the warning through their solicitors, Gemgold Solicitors, following the circulation of online publications and broadcasts they described as false and defamatory.

Woli Agba disclosed the development in a public notice shared on his Instagram page on Sunday.

In the notice dated October 23, 2026, the solicitors said the allegations were unfounded and intended to damage their clients’ reputations, expose them to public ridicule and stir hostility against them.

“Our Clients’ attention has been drawn to certain defamatory publications and online broadcasts containing false, baseless, and malicious allegations against them,” the notice stated.

The lawyers specifically rejected claims associating the comedians with Toluwanisings’ death, describing them as “entirely false, unsubstantiated, and unfounded.”

They warned that legal responsibility could extend beyond those who originated the allegations to individuals who publish, share, forward or endorse defamatory material, including content circulated through anonymous social media accounts.

The solicitors also urged members of the public to stop spreading unverified claims and remove any allegedly defamatory content they had previously posted on their personal pages, blogs or other online platforms.

According to the notice, the entertainers reserved their legal rights and were prepared to take action against individuals, blogs and media organisations that continued to circulate the allegations.

“Any individual, blog, media platform, or social media user who continues to publish, re-circulate, or broadcast false and defamatory content against our Clients will face swift legal action, including claims for substantial damages and injunctive relief under applicable civil and criminal laws,” the notice added.

The lawyers further called for responsible use of social media, urging people to verify information before sharing it and to respect the dignity and reputations of others.

Controversy surrounding Toluwanisings’ death

The warning comes amid growing controversy over online allegations linking prominent gospel ministers to the death of Toluwanisings and other gospel singers.

Earlier, gospel singer Tope Alabi also threatened legal action against a Canada-based pastor, Tayo Kumuyi, popularly known as Pastor Tayo Ministries, over publications allegedly linking her to the deaths.

Alabi’s solicitors, Oakmount Legal Practitioners, reportedly issued a cease-and-desist letter dated October 24, 2026, demanding the removal of the disputed publications, a retraction and an apology from the operators of the Facebook page.

The letter gave the page operators 24 hours to comply with the demands.

The latest development adds Woli Agba and Dele Omo Woli to the list of entertainers threatening legal action over allegations circulating online in connection with Toluwanisings’ death.

However, the allegations against the entertainers remain disputed, with their legal representatives insisting that the claims linking their clients to the singer’s death are false.
