Group trains 100 secondary school students on computer software in Osun
A non-governmental organisation, iCASE Digital Equity Bootcamp, has trained 100 students of Moremi High School, Ile-Ife, Osun State, in computer literacy as part of efforts to improve their academic performance and prepare them for a technology-driven world.
The initiative was aimed at equipping the students with practical digital skills that could support their studies and help them adapt to the growing use of technology in education and other areas of life.
The Convener of the programme, Mr Joshua Oyebode, said the training was designed to bridge the digital knowledge gap among students and expose them to the effective use of computers for learning and academic activities.
Oyebode described computer literacy as an essential part of modern education, stressing that students need relevant technology skills to compete effectively in an increasingly digital world.
He said iCASE Digital Equity Bootcamp would continue to empower young people with practical digital knowledge capable of improving their educational opportunities and preparing them for future careers.
According to him, the students should make proper use of the knowledge acquired during the training by applying the skills to their academic work.
“We want students to take advantage of the knowledge acquired during the training and apply it to their academic work.
“We also encourage relevant stakeholders to support initiatives aimed at improving digital literacy among young people. I believe the students will benefit from the programme and become more knowledgeable in computer operations,” he said.
Oyebode also appreciated the management of Moremi High School for providing the opportunity for the organisation to impact digital knowledge among the students.
The News Agency of Nigeria, NAN, reports that the training featured practical sessions on basic computer operations and other essential digital skills.
Earlier, the principals of Moremi High School, Dr Adedoyin Adebukola and Mr Makanjuola Gabriel, commended the organisation for its initiative, saying the training would contribute to improving the students’ academic performance.
The principals urged the beneficiaries to put the knowledge gained into practice and continue using the skills in their learning activities.
Some of the students, Odunayo Victor and Grace Ifeoluwa, in separate remarks, thanked the organisers for the training and pledged to put the knowledge acquired into practice while encouraging their colleagues to do the same.
